Strong Appetite Suppressants

These days I was searching the web to find some more information on weight loss medications. There is something that I noticed – a lot of people seeking strong appetite suppressant. Obviously, they were searching for the ultimate weight loss solution, being despaired from number of unsuccessful attempts to lose their belly fats. Or maybe they just like the idea of getting slim without putting real efforts. Appetite suppressants are indeed one of the best weight loss methods, that have helped many people to get the shape they dreamed about. But are appetite suppressants suitable for everyone?

What are appetite suppressants?

Appetite suppressing drugs, also called anorectics, are substances that reduce appetite and control hunger. The idea behind them is simple – taking them you control your cravings for food and thus prevents overeating. So what appetite suppressants does is to make it possible to follow a diet plan. With appetite suppressants you can easily reduce your calorie intake and to follow your diet for a longer time, enough to lose your extra pounds. Clinical studies shows that people taking appetite suppressants lost on average 5 to 22 pounds more than people that tried to lose weight following a diet alone. With appetite suppressants the number of people that successfully lost weight is also greater.

Appetite Suppressants WorkAppetite suppressants decrease hunger by tricking the hypothalamus – the part of your brain, where appetite and satiety centers are located. By acting on the body’s satiety center they decrease food intake and increase energy expenditure. Appetite suppressants decrease the levels of serotonine, norepinephrine or endocannabinoids in your brain. Another mechanism of appetite decreasing effect is to mimic the effect of blood glucose on the brain or to slower the emptying of your stomach (giving sense of fullness). Either mechanism has the same effect – you don’t feel hungry, even with less food. In some cases you should force yourself to eat!

Who will benefit most from appetite suppressants?

The answer is simple – everyone that unsuccessfully tried to lose weight with diet or another method. Appetite suppressants are designed as a dietary aid. As a such you still need to make some dietary changes, but they will be much more easily tolerated. The recommendation is that appetite suppressants have to be prescribed to people with BMI>30 or BMI>27 who also suffer from other conditions, like diabetes or high blood cholesterol levels.

appetite supressantMost of the appetite suppressants are not recommended for people that are mildly obese. On the other hand appetite suppressants have other health benefits, besides losing weight. They improve blood cholesterol and triglycerides levels, can lower blood pressure, and decrease insulin resistance (the body’s ability to utilize blood sugar). These benefits are welcome especially in people suffering from metabolic syndrome (syndrome X) or have other risks factors for development of cardiovascular disease. In such cases appetite suppressants can be helpful even in less overweight people.

Which appetite suppressant best suits you?

Appetite suppressants are either obtained by prescription (you should have appointment with your doctor for prescription) or over-the-counter. While prescription medications can be very expensive, over-the-counter medications are far less cheaper. Over-the-counter appetite suppressants have another good sides – they are completely natural, have fewer or no side effects, and most importantly – they have the same appetite suppressing potential as the prescription medications. So they can be wise choice to start with more safer approach to your weight loss journey, by choosing natural appetite suppressant.
